European designers have set design trends around the world and continue to do so. Companies of all sizes in the European Union (EU) have achieved leadership in their industries thanks to their unique capability to develop radical innovation based on design. This seminar will let you discover what makes European design and designers unique and how this may help you in the future.

This one-day seminar consists of two parts: Part 1 “Design & Your Company” and Part 2 “Designing Designers” and is complemented by a European Design Education Fair that will run concurrently.

This event is free of charge. Please register via email: delegation-singapore-events@ec.europa.eu and provide your name, contact details and the name of your organisation/school.

If you are interested in the business aspects of design then you should attend Part 1 “Design & Your Company”.

There is a growing need of the business world for information about design. This seminar will provide you with insight into how your company can successfully compete in an increasingly globalised world on innovation and value by using design as a strategic tool. As the arena of firms competing on low cost is increasingly crowded, especially as a consequence of competitors coming from new emerging countries with low salaries, many corporations are looking for new approaches to compete based on innovation: not a simple incremental innovation of product functionality, but breakthrough innovation that would add to a superior functionality an affective and emotional link between the product and the customer, which translates in greater brand value and long lasting profits.

Speakers:

  • ( France) Dimitri Fague, Sales Support Engineer from Sensitive Object

Topic: "Design and human machine interface, where is the limit for touch technologies?"

  • ( UK) Frank Peters, Chief Executive of the Chartered Society of Designers and the Design Association
  • ( Germany) Ulrich Schraudolph, Design Director, PSB Technologies Pte Ltd - Product Design & Engineering

If you are a student or a teacher interested in becoming a designer or developing designers for the future then Part 2 “Designing Designers” is for you.
