The “Many Ways Of Seeing” Workshop is a design awareness workshop that brings students, teachers and designers together to investigate nature, places and man-made objects from new perspectives. Students learn that what they see and how they interpret the world around them lies at the heart of the design process.

This 8 weeks workshop for both primary and secondary school students will culminate in a MWOS exhibition at the end of the year. The exhibition will show project concepts and works from the collaboration between the designers and students at the MWOS workshop.

The first seeds of design appreciation were sowed and nurtured during the first MWOS2006 design awareness workshops. These design seeds have been evolving and nurturing into the iconic tree represented by this year's MWOS2007 theme on reflection. The tree represents the well-spring of design awareness, development and ideation engaging all the 5 senses. MWOS2007 seeks to introduce to students an awareness of design opportunities arising from observing everyday and ordinary things. They also learn to see ordinary things and objects differently through observation, expression and reflections. The design ideas originating from the student, with the guidance of the professional designers of the industry have been developed into the works that are both interactive and can be experienced in the MWOS2007 exhibition.

This workshop is an excellent opportunity to introduce students and teachers with an interest in design, to the design process with the chance to interact, observe and collaborate with professional designers.
