Synopsis:

As a Singapore Design Festival Partner, the Embassy of Sweden in Singapore together with its close partners Alfa Laval, Volvo AB, Saab, SKF and Tetra Pak is organizing an informative outdoor exhibition focusing on some iconic Swedish innovative designs and technologies that are as relevant today as they were, when invented. All of them are still in the absolute technological forefront in their respective sectors.

The iconic products represented at the exhibition are:
- The Dairy Cream Separator ; invented by Gustaf de Laval, who founded Alfa Laval in 1883.

- The Screw Propeller ; designed by John Ericsson more than one hundred years ago. Volvo, founded in 1927, is today carrying the maritime traditions through Volvo Penta.

- The Turbo Engine ; Saab, founded in 1947, built the first mass-produced passenger car with a supercharged engine for everyday use.

- Self-Aligning Ball Bearing; invented by Swedish inventor and industrialist Sven Wingquist, who founded SKF in 1907.

- The Aseptic Carton Package; a packaging system developed by Tetra Pak for liquid foods. The first package shape was a tetrahedron shape invented by Eric Wallenberg and Ruben Rausing, who founded Tetra Pak in 1951;

The aim of the exhibition is to promote an even better awareness and interest among the general public for innovations and designs. The exhibition, which is presented in a new and innovative way - through posters and plasma screens - will be displayed in bus shelters along Orchard Road as well as Anson Road in the CBD.

The pictures are taken by the Swedish professional photographer Mr Peter Gaszynski, who has worked extensively in Singapore and formed a fond attachment to this vibrant city state. In addition to the exhibition along Orchard Road, all the pictures taken by Mr Gaszynski, will be on display at STYLE: NORDIC at 39 Ann Siang Road, with its dynamic founder Jonas Ericsson as a partner.

The official opening and the press briefing will take place on 22 November 2007.
