Tasmania is blessed with an extraordinary number of talented artists and designers who draw their inspiration from their beautiful island home. Singular & Multiple: New jewellery from Tasmania presents stunning works by ten of Tasmania's top jewellers. This comprehensive body of work showcases a unique blend of traditional and contemporary practice and brings together two key areas within craft and design practice. It explores the thread between exhibition and production jewellery; the singular and the multiple. This exhibition considers the differences that emerge in the construction of a collection or range of accessories and the creation of more experimental, sometimes even unwearable, one off pieces.
Exhibiting artists: Diane Allison, Carmen Blyth, Kate Case, Anita Dineen, Dulcie Greeno, Natalie Holtsbaum, Jeanette James, Marisa Molin, Linda Van Niekerk, Jude Walsh. Singular & Multiple: New jewellery from Tasmania is curated by Kate Rhodes of Craft Victoria and Brian Parkes of Object Gallery; presented by Arts Tasmania and Austrade; and supported by Tourism Tasmania. |
